Two winners at GE 36-hour internet hackathon in Turkey
During the past weekend, GE hosted over 30 Turkish entrepreneurs and developers in the country’s first Industrial Internet Hackathon.
The event took place during 36 hours. It saw six teams compete, explore, and code on Predix, GE’s platform for the industrial internet. The platform enables industrial businesses to securely connect and analyze data in real time enhancing operations.
Contestants were challenged to create digital solutions focusing on Turkey’s critical automotive industry. They were given real anonymized data about a fleet of 5,000 trucks as well as information about key executives within the company. The developers had then to create a digital application on Predix that could solve one of the challenges one of these key personas faced.
Throughout the event, GE industry mentors and innovation organization Atolye, led the teams through workouts, ideation, training, and strategizing. The judges watched the teams present their solutions and determined a winner.
Two teams won the hackathon and split the $5,000 cash prize: Efermes and Servispro. The first, created a solution targeted at fleet managers to reduce unplanned downtime through behavioral analysis of the drivers. The second, developed a software solution to speed up access to spare parts by analyzing embedded data in vehicles.
