Gazan entrepreneur builds online platform to unite Palestine's professionals [Wamda TV]
[Arabic]
One new startup in Gaza is looking to unite all of Palestine’s professionals in one accessible online network. Entrepreneur Ibrahim Matar recently began to build Mihaniyoun, a sort of detailed white pages for Palestine’s workforce and specialists, which is set to launch in the coming months. Through the network, Matar ambitiously hopes to build a kind of virtual "state" as he calls it, aggregating resumes and details for specialists and professionals across sectors.
According to Matar, the network will first work to expand to Jerusalem and the West Bank, and then begin an international expansion. Mihaniyoun features a member’s resume, location via Google Maps, as well as general rates charged for their services.
Though the project hasn’t officially launched yet, it is currently being incubated at the Palestine Information and Communications Technology Incubator (PICTI) with plans to launch later this year at PICTI’s demo day.
To learn more about the project, check out the short video above where Matar discusses the major challenges they face while starting up, including internet interruption and government bureaucracy.
