Egypt’s Vezeeta gets $5M Series B
Vezeeta, an Egypt-based automated physician, clinic and hospital bookings platform received $5 million in series B funding led by UAE’s Beco Capital.
The investment, closed in September 2016, also included Vostok New Ventures, TDF and Silicon Badia. It is also Beco’s first investment in Egypt.
Founded in 2014 the startup has become a go-to marketplace for those looking for comprehensive access to healthcare providers of every discipline across a multitude of insurance purveyor and specialist networks using proprietary digital cloud based solutions
Currently Vezeeta covers three Egyptian cities with ambitious expansion plans to integrate additional MENA countries in the region, moving into the UAE, KSA, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Kuwait and Qatar over the next 12 to 18 months.
“Finding a good doctor no longer requires asking parents and friends, nor does booking a doctor require you calling several times in an attempt to get an appointment,” said founder and CEO Amir Barsoum in a statement released December 27.
Available on desktop and as a mobile app, Vezeeta eases the accessibility of booking a doctor’s
appointment, allowing the user to choose a doctor by specialty, geographic area, insurance purveyor and fees. With more than 20,000 patient reviews and ratings available on the platform, users can readily determine the doctor with the best medical service and the least waiting time. Once the doctor is chosen, the patient can either book automatically from the website, the mobile app, or contact the call center.
