Data Science: a field in demand [Wamda TV]
From casual office discussions to blogs and coffee tables around the world, the future of jobs is a topic heavily discussed amongst all generations.
The question on everyone’s minds is this: will my job be on the line now that robots such as Ross the smart lawyer have entered the job market?
A report from the World Economic Forum called the Future of Jobs noted that robots were the reason five million jobs in 15 developed countries would be lost by 2020. However, the report also showed the emergence of other jobs thanks to these new technologies.
The integration of robots and Internet of Things (IoT) into everyday life has generated a huge amount of raw, unorganized data. Data science's role is to analyze these large data sets to extract knowledge. This led to data science jobs being named in 2013 as one of the most in demand jobs in the world.
Rima Semaan, cloud solution architect at Microsoft, says data science can be used to enhance the welfare of human beings, such as in healthcare with cancer treatments.
