Why education in Saudi Arabia needs a boost [WamdaTV]
Mashail Balkouka, an electrical and computer engineering student at Effat University in Saudi Arabia, talks about the importance of making drastic changes in education curricula in the Kingdom.
In an interview during the MIT Media Lab workshop, organized by Community Jameel and Wamda in Dubai, Balkouka said that women in computer engineering fields are getting the attention of big corporations.
Schools and universities in Saudi Arabia need to increase tech usage in their curricula, to allow students to work in digital fields and introduce them to the entrepreneurial world and the possibilities of tech.
Balkouka explains that “women engineers in Saudi Arabia only need training and experience to have great careers”. Also, companies in Saudi Arabia are getting used to having women employees amongst their staff.
