Harvard Startup Pitch
The Harvard Arab Alumni Association (“HAAA”) will hold its 11th annual Harvard Arab World Conference (HAWC) in Muscat, Oman on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa. Titled “Innovation: Inspiring a New Arab World”, the conference brings together a diverse community of Harvard alumni, professors, thinkers, entrepreneurs, policy makers, and leaders all sharing an interest and commitment to the renewal and development of the Arab world.
One of the highlights of the conference will be a startup pitch competition. Arab founders will have the opportunity to pitch in front of a panel of high-profile judges, including VCs and leaders in the tech community. They will also have the chance to network with other influential entrepreneurs. This competition is open to both Harvard and non-Harvard affiliates, and offers a monetary prize of $10,000.
Noting that Arabs at their core truly are entrepreneurs, HAWC asks how the region and its people can harness innovation to drive positive change, and how the rising generation of Arabs may take advantage of current and emerging resources to inspire transformation.
On the night before the conference, HAAA will also host a free seminar on Harvard admissions process for Omani high school students and graduate students. Registration details to be announced.
Transportation and accomodation will be provided for the shortlisted applicants of the competition. Deadline for application is March 3.
