Dubai SME debuts the first World Entrepreneurship Forum in the Middle East
Dubai SME is set to host the UAE chapter of the World Entrepreneurship Forum to promote entrepreneurial idea exchange and networking across the Middle East and North Africa, this December 8th and 9th at the World Trade Center.
Initially established by established by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai SME was incorporated into Dubai's Department of Economic Development in 2002. Today, Dubai SME works to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector and promote innovation and business leadership in accordance with the UAE Vision 2021
Established in 2008, the World Eentrepreneurship Forum is a worldwide community of entrepreneurs who work to promote an entrepreneurial spirit and find solutions to the economic and social challenges facing the world.
Generally, WEF programs focus on four key pillars: creating innovative and high-growth companies for job creation, developing entrepreneurship at the bottom of the pyramid to alleviate poverty and create new markets, shaping entrepreneurial cities, and implementing entrepreneurial education.
Dubai will be the first city in the Middle East to host a local chapter of the World Entrepreneurship Forum, bringing together key actors of the entrepreneurial ecosystem from a pool of entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, stakeholders, service providers, experts, academics, and politicians selected for their contribution and impact to society.
Building on Dubai's position as a hub of startup activity, Dubai SME and the World Entrepreneurship Forum will work towards building a well-rounded local chapter that will advance entrepreneurship throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
Wamda's independent event, Mix N' Mentor Dubai, will be held during the Dubai World Entrepreneurship Forum, in strategic partnership with Dubai SME. The community event will connect entrepreneurs with mentors and industry experts to share experiences and advice in a casual, high-energy setting; to learn more, read about the event.
