The 2014 New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Annual International Hackathon for Social Good in the Arab World will be held in the emirate in February.

This three-day program is a collaboration aimed at bringing together computer science students, academics, and technology experts, from around the UAE, the Middle East, and the world, to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in computer science.

This event will take place from February 14 – 16, 2014 (arriving on the 13^th and leaving on the 17^th) at the NYU Abu Dhabi Downtown Campus. Small teams of students, headed by mentors drawn from a pool of academics, professional developers, and accomplished representatives from regional and international startups, will compete by creating mobile and web application dedicated to the social good in the Arab World. On the final evening, teams will present their applications before a panel of judges and guests. NYUAD will cover accommodation, food, and airfare (if applicable) for all of the selected students and mentors. 

There are two ways to participate in the NYUAD Hackathon:

1) Computer Science professors: Nominate one highly talented student from your university for a full scholarship to participate in the Hackathon. We are looking for entrepreneurial, highly intelligent students skilled at working in a team. We would like to emphasize that each University should nominate only a single student, so we encourage you to work with your faculty to select one highly talented individual. 2) Technology experts: Apply to become a Mentor during the NYUAD Hackathon. The ideal mentor is someone with extensive experience in winning or guiding a winning team during Hackathons or competitions. Mentors MUST be proficient in web applications or mobile (iOS/Android) applications with third-party API dependencies, and other skills and processes needed for succeeding in Hackathons. We will only consider highly qualified academics, highly experienced tech developers, and founders of successful startups.
