Google Policy Fellowship Programme
Call for applications - Google Policy Fellowship Programme
Wamda has partnered with Google to host two candidates for the Google Policy Fellowship programme, one for the UAE, the other for Saudi Arabia.
The programme, funded by Google, will run from January to June 2019 and will offer undergraduate, graduate and early-stage professionals interested in internet and technology policy the opportunity to spend time contributing to the public dialogue on these issues.
Wamda is looking for two energetic, hard-working research and administrative assistant fellows to be integral contributors to the Wamda team. The fellowship is the perfect opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the Middle East and North Africa’s (Mena) startup and investor community while also working closely with promising entrepreneurs and regional investors.
A core component for both fellows will be assisting in researching the technology ecosystem, potential investments, and comparables in developing markets. This will include collating information from various channels and sources and presenting the findings to be used in reports and projects across the Wamda platform.
The bulk of tasks will be conducted individually with the opportunity to collaborate on projects with Wamda’s various departments in our Dubai or Riyadh office.
The fellowship will begin and conclude with two trips to Europe organised by Google with other fellows from several countries spanning Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Who should apply?
We’re looking for applicants who are passionate about technology and want to spend six months diving headfirst into the regional startup ecosystem. Students and professionals from all majors and degree programmes who possess the following qualities are encouraged to apply:
● Demonstrated skills and interest in research and data collection
● Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
● Eager to learn about entrepreneurship and startups in Mena
● Very strong attention to detail
