Disrupt!/Design!/ competition for sustainable ideas
Design is here to disrupt for a second year in a row! The second edition of the Disrupt!/Design! event is seeking participants with disruptive ideas that aim to challenge the status quo and introduce sustainable change in various disciplines in society. Organized by Mideast Creatives, the event is a 3-day ideathon that will take place as part of the ten-day Beirut Design Week event on May 26-28, in collaboration with MENA Design Research Center and DutchCulture.
The ideathon will be divided into a series of sessions designed to develop the participants' idea. Throughout the event designers, marketers, business-savvy entrepreneurs, coders, filmmakers and communications specialists will guide the selected participants in a step-by-step, interactive and hands-on experience.
In an intense 72 hours experience, the initial concepts will be matured to become promising startups.
About what's requested of your idea
Sustainability means “development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. Although primarily focused on ecology and the environment, it also involves social, cultural and economic aspects of life. It could be a product, a service, a movement or an awareness campaign that encourages more responsible behaviour for citizens in Lebanon and the MENA region. This can include recycling and upcycling projects, but also services that maintain, support and educate.
Participation
Participation is open to all people currently residing in Lebanon of any age or background. There is only one condition: they must apply as a team of 2 to 5 persons.
Prizes for the winning teams will include a $3000 cash prize as well as mentorship services to develop their business plan.
