For two years now, DEMO Africa has been a one-of-a-kind two-day showcase of cutting edge African innovation to the world (see our report on the first edition).
Each year, the platform selects 40 startups that are given an opportunity to launch their products during the event, in front of VCs, investors, tech acquisition specialists, IT buyers and media from across the region and around the globe.
Selected startups will get 90 second to pitch during the event, which will take place in September at Lagos, Nigeria, a kiosk space in the DEMO pavilion, and extensive promotional support on site.
To be eligible, products must be soon to be ready for launch, and must belong to one of the following categories: Agriculture, Health, Education, Manufacturing, Retail, Media and Entertainment, Communication, Transport and Logistics, Energy, Finance and Banking, Water and Sanitation, Waste Management and Recycling.
Launching at DEMO Africa seems to have been doing good to the alumni since they have raised over US$ 8 million in just a year. North Africa has not been too present yet, still alumni include a few startups from the northern part of continent including Tunisian startup Famissima.
